Element of Recruiting & Selection Process

These are the 8 stages of Recruitment and Selection each of these elements contributes to finding the most suitable candidates. Depending on the organisation there are other ways employers go through on how they prefer to break down the recruitment and selection process, from 8 or 4 stages. Looking back on my previous experience my recruitment process certainly was not long; I was successful for the job after receiving a call the very same day when I attended the interview.

Human Resource Department

Human Resource Department is the centre of the recruitment and selection process for any company. It is known to be the most effective way to staff the company with qualified professionals for every available job. Some articles that are relevant to the recruitment and selection process include testing methods, application letters, interview techniques and recruitment methods. A human resources specialist must be able to apply all these techniques as well as be trained in dispute resolution, keeping employee morale high and answering a wide variety of questions. Some companies hire a separate recruitment firm to bring in the best employees for their businesses. Skills are sometimes administered to prospective employees to determine the applicant’s abilities. More specific testing, such as that for computer literacy and mathematical abilities, can also help employers find an appropriate candidate.

Previous Recruitment Experience

From previous work experiences I have undertaken within a bakery factory, I recall the job recruitment process was made through application forms followed by selected one to one interview with me/candidate and head of HR department. I waited a day for the company to contact me telling me I got the job and shift optional choice then by health and safety course and food hygiene undertaken. This process was not targeted to select candidate as no C.V. was exchanged as most business recruitment policy require one and additional references, such as Thomson and Thomas cook.

Introduction

Throughout this blog I am going to talk about recruitment and selection. Two leisure organisations I will be talking about are Thomas Cook and Thomson. I will be looking at recruitment strategies from both companies, job descriptions and there likely candidates/conditions that may attract suitable people for the positions.  Expanding on the selection process which will cover what candidates are suitable and assessed, how choices are made and finally job offers.
